Join Helen Houston, of Travels with Helen, and Liz Lister of The Jaggy Thistle Tours founders of the Scottish Blethers , in a Live Virtual Tour of IONA, a very special place!

For centuries people have travelled to this small island off the west coast of Scotland. They came seeking faith or belief, learning or healing, refuge or absolution. Today, they still come to enjoy the natural beauty of the island and to experience the sense of calm and tranquillity that is palpable from the moment you step off the ferry from the mainland.

In this our final virtual tour of the current series, we explore why the island was to establish such an important place in medieval religious history with the arrival of St Columba in the 6th century. We discuss how its fortunes would rise and fall to finally evolve into the communities – both religious and social – that call the island home today.
