Otazu Winery | Navarra, Spain

Join Spanish tour guide Fran Glaria of Traveling Steps for a virtual tour of this delightful winery and its collection of art.

Fran takes you on a visit of Otazu Winery, recently awarded as the most beautiful, open-to-the-public winery in Spain. Otazu was founded in the 1100s under the shadow of the Camino to Santiago. On the 1400s, it became a bastion for the Kingdom of Navarre. Phylloxera almost killed all the vineyards in the 1700s. Today, the property belongs to the Penso family who love their wine as much as modern art.

Fran Glaria

Fran Glaria was born and raised in Pamplona, part of the Basque country in northern Spain.  His passions for history, art and food, led him to tour guiding. Over 20 years ago, he started a small local guiding company in his hometown. This company evolved into designing tours in the Basque region, and also into organizing tours for the Running of the Bulls festival in Pamplona. In 2012 Fran joined the Rick Steves’ Europe team and discovered a great way of teaching about his culture. You can follow Fran and Traveling Steps on Facebook and Instagram.
