Roberto's family has lived in various zones of Siena, a walled town dating back to the middle ages, for hundreds of years. When he resided for brief periods of time in other countries with his American wife, an ESL teacher, homesickness for Tuscan sights, sounds and smells was like a physical ache. Deeply attached to the landscape, architecture, art, cuisine and customs -- and to enjoying life to the fullest, he aims to be not just a guide but the heart and soul of a stay in Tuscany Roberto is a history buff and improv actor, as well as a member of an archeological club, all of which are convenient obsessions for someone who spends his life teaching and entertaining tourists. With his brother and friends he also owns a working farm (www..madonnabella.com) set up to teach visitors about making pasta, olive oil and wine, in addition to providing tastes of all three. To satisfy his curiosity and keep his enthusiasm for the job constant he is always seeking new experiences to share ..in the quest to convert his clients away from typical "package tours," with hurried and stressful schedules. He has assisted with the production of documentaries about Tuscany shown on PBS, as well as co-producing one with a focus on travel as a lifelong journey. His motto is "to be original, you have to understand the origin of things."
