Andrew hails originally from Southern California and Seattle, has traveled extensively throughout Central and Eastern Europe, and now runs Savor the Experience Tours from his adopted home of Slovenia. Ben, also from the United States, now lives in the Czech Republic and has worn many hats throughout his career, including professor, researcher, tour guide, and author.
This dynamic duo have teamed up to create a weekly podcast that focuses on all things they love—and some of the things that make them cringe—about Central and Eastern Europe. They share their experiences, expertise, insights, and memories about places that are near and dear to their hearts and minds.

Andrew Villone is an American ex-pat who’s been living in Slovenia since 2014. As owner of Savor The Experience Tours since 2005, Andrew provides boutique experiences with a focus on local food and drink to off-the-beaten-path places in Slovenia, Croatia, and the Balkans. He’s also the co-host of the Spotify podcast Eastern Approaches. When he’s not working, you might find him traveling through Central Europe and the Caucasus. Growing up, Benjamin Curtis always wanted to be James Bond. Turns out that it’s not so easy to get a license to kill, so he settled for being an international man of mystery. He knows 15 languages, has lived in six different countries, worked throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and served as an advisor to the British government. Most fun of all, though, were the many years he spent as a professor in Seattle. These days he lives in Prague, teaching, guiding tours, and writing books on global politics and history.
