Held—A Poem
To begin, thank you.
Giving back to share your heart and voice.
This space has comforted us while we redefine who we are,
Where we belong,
and find our North again.
Now we can listen to our other inner voices.
You | A Poem
GC’s “Poet Laureate,” Charlie Rawson, shares her latest beautiful, evocative creation.
The Power of Love, According to Dante
Vita nuova translates to “new life,” and through prose and poems Dante describes his relationship with the love of his life, Beatrice. These two first met in Florence when they were nine years old, and then again when they were 18. The early poems in Vita nuova show Dante as a young man besotted with Beatrice’s beauty, love-sick like a hormonal teenager. As in any pop-culture romance, his infatuation has its ups and downs. He’s devastated when Beatrice refuses to greet him in the street. He even has a dream in which Love appears to him personified, and feeds Dante’s heart to Beatrice.
Celebrate. A Poem.
Grounded in the bodies we inhabit, to be grateful with the rising of each morning.
Celebrations come from within
They are small and full of love.
The Wooded Lands
English tour guide and travel poet, Charlie Rawson, brings the sensory images of autumn in the woods of Bristol to life in this evocative poem.
A Day in Rimbaud Land
I stand there for a while, thinking about the poet's words that changed modern poetry, words that have been accompanying me through the city, taking me into his life, mind, and travels. And I have combined my love for Patti Smith's and Rimbaud's work; it has been a perfect day.
To Bread — A Photographic Poem
“ ...sharing tidbits and discoveries, not only stretches out a pleasant social evening but bonds friends together in a very emotional way. In fact, the very word COMPANION comes from the Latin COM PANIS, or 'WITH BREAD', meaning the person you share meals with – friendship defined by dining.” — Eve Zibart
